The Bon Ton House is located two blocks South of Main Street in Downtown Bozeman.  Take a stroll down the street to explore the many locally owned shops and restaurants that our city has to offer.

 

VISIT THE GALLATIN HISTORY MUSEUM

Built in 1911, the historic Gallatin County Jail on Main Street is home to the Gallatin History Museum  (formerly The Pioneer Museum).  Inside you will find exhibits on Native American history as well as the history of early Montana settlers.  The museum is home to many artifacts, including  a porcelain doll that belonged to a girl who came to Bozeman by wagon in 1864, a 30+ piece gun collection, and Bozeman’s first steam-powered fire engine.

How to get there from the Bon Ton House Vacation Rentals:
Head two blocks North on Willson until you reach Main Street. From the corner of Willson and Main, head West (Left) on Main Street for three and a half blocks.  The Gallatin History Museum will be on your right at 317 West Main Street.

 

STROLL PEETS HILL AT SUNSET

For a relaxing walk through sage brush and wildflowers, head over to Peets Hill.   From the top of the hill you can see amazing sunset views over Bozeman.  Parking is available at the corner of South Church Avenue and East Story Street.

VISIT THE MUSEUM OF THE ROCKIES

The Museum of the Rockies (MOR), affiliated with Montana State University, is home to a world-class paleontology research facility and has one of the most important dinosaur fossil collections in the world.  Exhibits at the museum focus not only on Paleontology, but also on Native American History, Montana History, as well as various changing exhibits from around the world.  The Living History Farm and Martin Children’s Discovery Center are favorites for families with kids, and the Taylor Planetarium presents many high-quality educational shows.

How to get there from the Bon Ton House Vacation Rentals:
1) Walk or drive South on Willson Avenue for 14 blocks
2) Turn Right on to W Kagy Avenue
3) Museum of the Rockies (600 W. Kagy Ave) is on the left

 

HIKE THE COLLEGE M TRAIL

Hiking is a popular pastime in Bozeman, and this easily accessible trail is a local favorite.  Expect to run into people of all ages, dogs, and athletes while on this hike.  The M was built out of white stones in 1915 by Montana State University Students and sits at the Southwestern end of the Bridger Mountain Range.  From the M you will see fantastic views of Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley.

Elevation gain: 850 feet
Duration: 1 hour

How to get there from the Bon Ton House Vacation Rentals:
Drive two blocks North on Willson until you reach Main Street.  At the corner of Willson and Main turn right (East) on Main Street.  Drive four blocks and then turn left (North) onto Rouse Avenue.  Follow Rouse Avenue (becomes Bridger Canyon Road) out of town  for about 4 miles.  Turn left into the parking lot at the base of the trailhead.  For a steep ascent follow the trail to the right.  For a more gradual climb, follow the trail to the left.

 

VISIT YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Established in 1872 as America’s first national park, Yellowstone is home to hundreds of wildlife species including bison, elk, wolves, and bear.  Sitting atop a volcanic hot spot, the park has many thermal features including hot springs, mud pots, and geysers.

How to get there from the Bon Ton House Vacation Rentals:
The Northern Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is located in Gardiner MT.
Total drive time 1 hr 20 min (77.9 miles)
1) Drive two blocks North on Willson until you reach Main Street.
2) Turn right (East) and take Main Street out of Bozeman.
3) Merge on to I-90 E towards Billings, and drive 23 miles.
4) Take exit 333 for US-89 S and turn left onto US-89 S.
5) Drive 53 miles until you reach Gardiner, MT and the Northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

 

SKI BRIDGER BOWL

Bridger Bowl, Bozeman’s nonprofit community ski area is located just 20 minutes up Bridger Canyon Road and provides skiers with fantastic terrain and amenities at both a base lodge and a mid-mountain lodge.  A flashing blue light atop the historic Baxter Hotel  in Downtown Bozeman alerts residents any time Bridger Bowl accumulates at least two inches of fresh snow.

How to get there from the Bon Ton House Vacation Rentals:
Drive two blocks North on Willson until you reach Main Street.  At the corner of Willson and Main turn right (East) on Main Street.  Drive four blocks and then hang a left (North) onto Rouse Avenue.  Follow Rouse Avenue (becomes Bridger Canyon Road) out of town  for 16 miles.  Bridger Bowl will be on your left at 15795 Bridger Canyon Road.

 

VISIT BIG SKY

Referred to as the “Biggest Skiing in America”, Big Sky Resort features 5,800 acres and 4,350 vertical feet of downhill skiing and snowboarding terrain.  The resort has 6 terrain parks, 22 chair lifts and 7 surface lifts and receives an average annual snowfall of 400+ inches.

Down the road from Big Sky Resort, Lone Mountain Ranch is home to 85 km of groomed cross-country ski trails.  Voted the #1 Nordic Ski Resort in North America by Cross Country Skier magazine, their fantastic terrain and dependable snow make for an unrivaled cross-country ski experience.

During the summer months, Big Sky Resort offers the “Lone Peak Expedition” where guests can travel to the summit of Lone Peak (11,166 ft.) via chairlift, expedition vehicle, and tram.  On a clear day, Lone Peak is the perfect vantage point to see two national parks, three states, and many mountain ranges.

Total drive time 1 hr 7 min (50.5 miles)
1) Drive two blocks North on Willson until you reach Main Street.
2) From the corner of Willson Ave and Main St, head West (Left) on Main and drive for 7.2 miles (note: Main St becomes Huffine Ln after 2 miles).
3) Turn Left onto US-191/Gallatin Rd and drive for 34 miles.
4) Turn right onto Lone Mountain Trail and drive for 8.7 miles.
5) Turn Left onto Big Sky Resort Rd.
